Old Soul

A spirit of discovery and community has always been in The Heights District’s DNA. In the 1880s, pioneer families saw something special in this elevated stretch of riverfront land situated just north of downtown. They were drawn to its beauty, urban proximity, and the promise of a healthier place to live and raise their families. Little by little, these visionaries turned it into a tight-knit, progressive community that would become Tampa’s first suburb, which they called The Highlands.

Today, more than 141 years later, the newly reimagined Heights District is a 50-acre mixed-use urban district anchored by the Hillsborough River and Downtown Tampa. It remains a central hub to all Tampa has to offer, and a symbol of growth, progress, and limitless possibilities. The Heights District continues to evolve and expand with more amazing shops, restaurants, boutiques, and experiences.
